Korea: Seoul, Shinchon, Dr. Beans, the best coffee in Seoul?; fuzzy nights out, long exposure times, criminals, teachers, and criminal teachers

That's a view from my dorm-apartment. Here are some experiments with long exposures:

I was excited to see that there was a Velvet Underground Bar in Shinchon. Hugely excited. We learned that it had been closed for at least three years. A disapointment. The Doors bar is pretty cool, though.

That is Andy. As you can see, he is a criminal. But he lent me money is my only ally in the office as of yet.

"Dr. Beans" is a coffee shop in Shinchon. It's probably the best coffee in Seoul. I'm addicted.

Drinking in Gangnam. Just like old times.

Bridge Trolls

Atrios posts about an impending crisis that affects both the human and the troglodyte world. Namely, Bridge Trolls. I have not read Atrios' post, but I assume that he points out the main problems that humans face. Namely, the crumbling of your bridges, and the needless consumption of your children. I am not up to date on your scholarship, but I would assume that there is a great deal of elucidation needed on this subject. Humans tend to lump the so deemed 'lower denizens' of the Earth into one ill-stacked pile.

As god of the troglodytes, I know a great deal on this subject.

There is a great difference between The Common Bridge Troll and your garden variety troglodyte. Make sure to do your research, humans.

UPDATE: Dan wanted me to be a little more specific. It should be noted that these are the secret notes of a besieged god. I am in hiding, location undisclosed. When I get a new computer, I can start recording again, using the Skype program.

Anyhow, the things you should know about Bridge Trolls is that they are not higher lifeforms. They are cunning, essentially stupid animals. They are not creatures of reason. Above all, it should be noted, that these benighted creatures do not have recognizably developed palates. They do not appreciate the full, fruity flavors of a child in its prime. They suck it of its nutrients fully ignorant of its savor, of its life-giving attributes.

I have found a youtube video of a Bridge Troll. This one, surprisingly or unsurprisingly, has somehow managed to assimilate itself into your culture.

Chrononauts Unite

Members of Alien Black Market have been on a quest for the past few months attempting to uncover the identities of the Chronoauts who live among us. Perhaps it's you, maybe it's me. But as the TISL state (timeline international security laws-I'm not making this up) it is illegal to state so. So please keep it to your self for safety reasons. However, as this author suggests it is OK to hint at the fact that you are.

Why is it so important to understand and appreciate the noble roles that Choronauts play in society?
"The fact that they live among us give us faith that we will not blow up the Earth anytime soon." Says our ABM Emo correspondent. "As a matter of fact, Chronoauts are already being embraced by our Republicans representatives around the country. Emo is the religion of the future, or so we are guessing by the X's that most Chronoauts tattoo on their arms."
"This is proof that there is no such thing as Global Warning." Says a spokesman from the Young Republicans who asked to remain unnamed. "We can continue to follow the path we are one. We can do what we want because we know that the Chronoauts exist."
As news of Chronoauts is spreading from country to country they refuse to come out in the public afraid to break what are known as the "McFly" rules of time travelling.
"They are afraid of Biffing the future, " our resident Emo explains, "afraid that people will come into power who shouldn't be there. They seek protection of the future by roaming around blindly and curiously in the present, like wandering anthropologists."

DOMP NOW and Forever...

I don't like being the first to blog after Mr. Irwin's praise for his first book. So please scoll down and order it. I am just a humble blogger attempting to aware all of what may be, perhaps, the fist war like incident on Mars. Bleow is NASA's animated short about the MARS Science Laboratory.

Please note how around 2:42 into the wonderful cartoon how wonderfully simplistic their ray gun is used. But what may happen when Europe tries to sink its teeth into the Mars exploration game...
What will happen when the USA's delightful little robot comes across the EU's robot (who looks like a wimp)? Could this be the first chapter in the intergalactic droid wars? EMOS think so.

"We are worried that the initial steps into the exploration of Mars will pivot one robot against another and in the end we foresee two Continental powers facing one another for nothing more than territorial rights over a remote area Mars." says Johnathan Griffith, a said EMO and secrect Hip-Hop fanatic. "I foresee a great danger between two powers unless we see the deweaponization of Mars. DOMP forever, starts now."
It's a beautiful flim but don't let the the simplistic use of the lasers fool you...As Mr. Griffith states, " Why can't we all learn a lesson from Shatner's version of Rocket Man."
Yes indeed, the ultimate EMO anthem.

GO CELTICS!!!

Jason Irwin: Watering the Dead

Jason Irwin's first book of poetry, Watering the Dead is available for purchase for now.

Go to the Pavement Saw Press website to buy it.

There are no aliens or robots in it. You'll have to wait for mine or Kraig's book of poetry for that.

Hey Jerks!

Youjeen rocks. She's Korean, but the next one is from her solo Japanese work:

No revolution for you...

This should scare all who hope to take to the streets in the near future.

Meanwhile, while scientists celebrate the Phoenix landing and Mars and all that it hopes to uncover, please take note of the end of this paragraph from the May 26 article from the Boston Globe (link to full ariticle):

"...Next year, the Mars Science Laboratory, a lander as large as an automobile and equipped with a ray-gun type laser to zap rocks at a distance of 30 feet, is scheduled to follow up on Phoenix's discoveries." The real reason why we are going to Mars? Why does NASA feel the need to "ZAP" space rocks. What is their real goal. Is testing such a weapon on Earth too dangerous. It's not like they are using naplam in Iraq (What's a cock-up? Read the article and find out.). Is there a ray gun ban on Earth. Is Mars the next testing ground for weapons..."

Bottom Line: The weaponization of Mars is soon to occur. Where is a treaty when you need one? The ABM (Alien Black Market) believes this why Alien sighting are now occurring in Denver and not on Mars. They are going to attack us here before we attack them there.

I pledge that we begin DOMP- the Deweaponization Of Mars Priority. Mars should be a weapon free planet. A spokes person from the ABM says, "We must not allow weapons to be used and brought to our beloved red sister planet. If we fail now, we fail the future of our great grandchildren who will no doubt colonize the planet generations from now."
Students have already begun to take to the streets in protest. This is a cuase that the EMO generation have embraced whole heartedly.
"We can't hate Mars. And we're sick of our parents who don't understand our music. It's not like the My Chemical Romance are biting the heads off of bats and sending weapons to Mars. We deplore the weaponization of Mars. That's what the X on our hands stand for. No weapons on planet X. We want peace on Mars."

CHRIST! INVADERS IN DENVER

Kraig--oops--I meant subhino was talking about this. I didn't believe in Aliens before, but after watching this, how can you NOT believe?!?!?!?!?!

Good news everyone!

Everything is going to be okay.

Move over DIck...

Carpal Tunnel is no joke. What helps is a set of chinese "boading balls." I don't know if it'll cure you but it'll help...

Yeah, but will it save my arms?

I have long had problems with my arms--as mentioned previously--namely an RSI problem. I should probably be resting my arms right now (I'm officially grading papers online fulltime right now) but before I do, look at the latest MAC toy:

I was a serious naysayer when it came to the iPhone--I thought it was the technological equivalent of Beck (enuff said). But I was really hoping for the new wave of interfaces to address the concerns of my lame-ass, inflamed tendons. Questions, concerns still loom, but I'm optimistic.

Embrace the Neti

If Oprah can do it, so can you. Empower yourself through Neti Power!!

It's only uncomfortable the first few times.....

In other news it looks as though a new musical chapter is brewing here on the East Coast. Though I would rather be playing Reich like pieces while exploring tonal modes inspired by b-flat in the hopes of luring alien and trog-like life forms alike, I will be dabbling in formula eco friendly world-rock sounds. No Myspace page yet......Photo of my beloved Ibo....new instrument of choice...although it doesn't record very well (yet)...

Clinton's assassination remark

This wasn't a knee-jerk reaction of mine, but after thinking about it, I have come to believe that Hillary Clinton should step-down and concede. Jonathan Schwarz says we should be fair and put the remarks in context. There are different opinions at the Unapologetic Mexican, this one (that really got me thinking) and now also this one.

Here's a pull quote from the NYT blog:

Mrs. Clinton had been saying that some in the Obama campaign and in the media were trying to push her out of the race and she didn’t know why.

“Historically, that makes no sense,” she said, “so I find it a bit of a mystery.”

Question: “You don’t buy the party unity argument?”

Mrs. Clinton: “I don’t because, again, I’ve been around long enough. You know my husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. You know, I just don’t understand it and there’s lot of speculation about why it is.”

By all rights, it shouldn't just be a very bad day, but the worst day of Clinton's political career. The day that killed it. I don't care how long she's been fighting; I don't care how much slogging against the misogynist culture, the misogynist media, against the Cult of Obama, against her advisors, against her legacy, her own ambition--whatever it is that is keeping her going--she was in no position to make such an unconscionable, base, insensitive remark. Insensitive is not strong enough a word. Etherized, cynically nihilistic, I don't know. She is a product of our age; she is pure ambition, and I would forgive her if she stepped down now. But if I am to believe in the system, if I am to believe in democracy, if I am to uphold liberal ideals, then I cannot say anything but that she has gone beyond the pale. She has lost all credibility with me; she is not fit to represent us.
